Our Story

People with learning disabilities in the UK are significantly underrepresented in paid employment, despite having the skills, motivation, and desire to work. At the same time, many employers want to be inclusive but lack the practical support needed to make employment work well for everyone.

Positive Futures exists to close that gap.

We work alongside adults with learning disabilities and employers to create realistic, sustainable routes into work. Our approach is practical and hands-on. We help shape roles, prepare workplaces, provide in-work job coaching, and gradually step back as confidence and independence grow. The goal is always long-term employment.

Positive Futures was founded in 2020 by Sarah and Wayne, who bring both professional and personal experience of supported employment. After seeing first-hand what works, and what doesn't, they set out to build a service that supports employers properly while keeping the individual at the centre of the journey.

Today, Positive Futures works with employers who are open to inclusion and want the confidence, guidance, and ongoing support to make it successful. We believe meaningful employment benefits everyone; individuals, workplaces, and the wider community.
